Caked on

If you’ve ever wondered what a year’s worth of make-up looks like, here it is.

Belgian model, Hannelore Knuts, sat for nine hours while Dutch video artists Lernert and Slander slathered 365 layers of make-up on her face – all in the name of art.

In the clip, Natural Beauty, they applied seven bottles of foundation (using an airbursh gun), three lip glosses, two bottles of liquid blush and two bottles of cream eye shadow. And to use the term ‘caked on’, the end result actually looks like frosting.

Natural Beauty was commissioned by Nowness, a brand of the luxury group LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton.

It has similarities to the wonderfully popular and successful Evolution viral ad, which was launched by Dove in 2006 as part of their Dove Campaign for Real Beauty.
